Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

LangDoc ("LangDoc," "we," "us") is a doc editor that translates what you write as you type. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using LangDoc, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, your name and profile photo.
  • Content you create. Documents, folders, saved lines/vocabulary, and flashcards you create in LangDoc, along with your language and translation preferences.
  • Voice input. If you use speech-to-text or text-to-speech, we process the audio or text needed to provide that feature. We don't keep audio recordings longer than necessary to fulfill the request.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe to LangDoc Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your payment details directly — we don't store your card number. We do receive your subscription status and billing history.
  • Usage information. Basic technical data like IP address, browser type, and how you interact with the app, used to keep the service reliable and secure.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate LangDoc — saving your documents, generating translations, audio, and flashcards.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To communicate with you about your account, such as sign-in links or service updates.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting requests).
  • To improve LangDoc based on aggregate, non-identifying usage patterns.

3. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers who help us run LangDoc, and only as needed for them to perform their function:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Anthropic— processes document text to generate translations, word breakdowns, and flashcard suggestions.
  • ElevenLabs— processes text and audio for text-to-speech and speech-to-text.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Upstash— short-lived rate-limiting data to keep the service stable.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of LangDoc or our users.

4. Data retention

We keep your account and document data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a document or your account, we remove the associated data from our production systems within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it (for example, billing records).

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.

6. Data security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. International data transfers

We're based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers of personal information out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
